Baby’s 1st Holiday Abroad: The Essential Packing List
Baby’s 1st Holiday Abroad: The Essential Packing List
Heading to a holiday in paradise? We’re so excited for you all! And it’s little ones very first? There are sure to be so many amazing memories ahead. The promise of sun-filled days, sandy tiny toes, and their first unforgettable dip in the sea. There’s something super special about a holiday with a newborn baby – seeing the wonder in their eyes as they gaze out over turquoise pools, their happy grins as they splish and splash in their baby float, the messy ice-cream smiles.
Whether you're going on holiday with a baby for the first time or planning holidays with brand-new babies under 1, travelling with a little one takes a bit more planning (and a whole lot more bits and bobs to pack!).
So, what do you actually need when taking a newborn on holiday? We’ve created the ultimate guide to baby holiday essentials, covering everything from in-flight must-haves to poolside saviours. Because we’re here to make their first years a breeze.

The Ultimate What-To-Pack List
- A Personalised Backpack – Little ones need some luggage of their own! Help to give them a little more independence with their very own bag. Whether you're heading off on a city adventure or heading to sandy shores, our personalised backpacks are ideal for keeping baby and toddler’s things organised and close at hand. From nappies and snacks to comforters and bottles, our bags make finding essentials easy (without having to dig through the big cases and your luggage). And because they’re personalised, they’re easy to spot in a crowd. An essential entry to your baby packing list for a holiday.
- Personalised Wooden Toys – Perfect for entertaining tiny hands on planes, in restaurants, or at the hotel. Because entertainment is essential for keeping them happy and stimulated. Have you seen our mini jigsaw puzzles and mini push-along toys? They’re cute, fun and compact – ready to slot into your hand luggage and pull out whenever they want a little activity. You’ll find them ideal when flying with a baby or keeping them happy mid-flight.
- A Personalised Blanket – There’s nothing more comforting than the familiar feel of home. A personalised baby blanket is a must-have for any baby holiday checklist and a go-to for everything from naptime, whether on the plane or on breezy evening strolls on the seashore. What we love about our designs is the option to add their name, making sure it stays in the right hands. Plus, they’re super soft and gentle against delicate skin.

- Nappies & Swim Nappies – Think about all the everyday essentials that you normally need. We’d recommend packing plenty for both day and night. This is because it’s a style your little one is used to (stay away nappy rashes!) and they might be more expensive at the destination you’re going to.
- Wipes, Creams & a Portable Changing Mat – Again – it’s always good to have a stash of baby’s usual bits and bobs, to avoid any irritation by new formulas. And a fold-up changing mat is great for on-the-go changes.
- A Personalised Bucket Hat – No baby holiday checklist is complete without sun protection. And (if we do say so ourselves) our bucket hats are the cutest of the bunch. They help to shield delicate skin from the sun while adding a dose of summer sweetness (and personalisation!) to your holiday snaps.
- Outfits (and lots of spares!) – Make sure you pack lightweight and breathable clothing, especially if you’re heading away in the height of summer.

- Baby-friendly Suncream & SPF Clothing – Vital for delicate skin, you should always try and keep tots out of direct light and have SPF on at all times.
- Comforters – This is a real saviour when travelling with a newborn. Choose something that they love – a fluffy plush comforter, a teddy they adore or maybe just a muslin they’ve grown extra fond of. It’ll help them settle into a new routine abroad.
- Inflatables – Heading to somewhere with a pool? Lucky you! We recommend taking a baby float or armbands for peace of mind as they splash around. You can always buy these when you arrive too – but it means having to head out before you can use the pool.
- Favourite Snacks, Formula & Bottles – For peace of mind, add these to your baby holiday packing list. But, stick to what they know – as you may not be able to get the ones they have at home while you’re away.
- Sterilising Tablets or Portable Steriliser – A must for bottle-fed babies on the move.
- A Lightweight Buggy or Baby Carrier – Most airlines let you check in a buggy, baby carrier or car seat free of charge (though it’s worth checking with your airline provider!). When it comes to a pushchair, it must fold flat and into one single piece. Another option is to get a cabin friendly pushchair – these clever designs fold into a nifty compact shape that fits in the overhead lockers – they’re amazing to have so little one doesn’t have to be held through the airport on the other side. Again, it’s always best to check dimensions and your airline's allowances before buying these.
- Travel Documents & Insurance – Including their passport.

Whether you’re travelling with a newborn on a plane, off on your first family adventure, or wondering what to pack for a baby on holiday, we hope this baby holiday guide and checklist helps you feel more prepared (and a little more excited!).
Here’s to sleepy naptimes in paradise, sinking their tiny toes in the sand for the first time and the sweetest first holiday memories.
